6 degrees of separation

is the world really that small?
apparently in the original experiment conducted by stanley milgram in '67 only about 5% of the letters reached their destination .... ummm the ones that reached had 6 links in the chain. in '03 letters were replaced by emails and instead of the 96 ppl used by milgram the new study had over 60,000 participants from 166 countries. this time around 3% of the email chains reached their target. the median chain length was between 5 and 7. looks like IF u can reach someone, u culd on an avg do it with just 6 degrees of separation.
